1)
Both applicants must appear at the County
Clerk's office to apply for a marriage license.
2) Both applicants must be at least 17 years of
age. Applicants who are 17 or 18 years of age are required to have a notarized
consent form, signed by one parent or guardian.
3) Applicants must present identification
showing proof of age, such as a driver's license, birth certificate, or
passport.
4) The following information is required on the
marriage license:
A) Applicant's birthplaces (including city and
state);
B) Father's name and birthplace (including
city and state);
C) Mother's name, including maiden name, and
birthplace (including city and state);
D) Both applicants need to provide social security numbers (Effective
date: September 1, 1997)
5) If either of the applicants is divorced, the
couple must wait six months after the divorce decree is final to re-marry in the
State of Nebraska.
6) The cost of the marriage license is $15.00.
(Effective date: September 9, 1995)
7)
The marriage license expires one year
from the issuance date.
8)
A marriage can be performed in any
county in the State of Nebraska,regardless of which county issued the marriage
license.
9)
Rubella blood test requirements were
eliminated on April 14, 1998 with the adoption of L.B. 1073.
